LOCATION

These are the actual areas you visit when you take TikiTours Sailing School's sailing lessons. On four separate days you will visit the sailing areas shown here, and for most courses you will still be at home for the night (not an option with strictly 'cruise and learn' sailing lessons where you may be in a stuck in a cramped, damp cabin for the week). We get you right into the action fast; 60 seconds from the dock we raise sails! Terminology has to be correct, of course, but this is a fun and action packed sailing school, not 'stuffy' and boring. You will be on a decorated, fast boat which still races. We show you what you need to know, and how it relates to modern cruising / racing, as well as historical significance. The scenery is classic British Columbia Canada, with snow capped mountains looming immediately nearby, spectacular railroading along the cliffs, and fresh ocean air, far from the noise and pollution of downtown.

The ideal party size is 1-4 per boat, as there will be much activity with ropes and winches during the sailing instruction. Crew should wear wind-proof jackets over a comfortable cotton such as workout suits. Any further rain protection will be provided by us, as well as D.O.T. approved personal floatation devices. We go where you like, as long as the wind takes us there, and since our sailing area is so close to the marina, you can get back in a hurry if something comes up. Within the areas shown are the add-on shore activities to make your sailing more of an adventure.

Our sailing school's anchoring training takes place in secluded coves.

Our sailing area includes both the waters of Howe Sound as well as the Strait Of Georgia, so you will gain valuable insight into the two most popular cruising areas in British Columbia. You will see first hand and train in some of the best secluded anchorages, as well as learn your starting courses for some of the greatest weekend destinations in the Gulf Islands, Howe Sound, and Sunshine Coast.

For those interested in taking their vessels even further, this is the place to get your first bearings. Cruising sailboats and commercial vessels have made these waters their starting points for adventures to Alaska, Mexico, Hawaii, the South Pacific and beyond. Canadian circumnavigators are among these, many having set world records in previous decades.
